Chris Heidel - This season has been tough for Jimbo Fisher and the Florida State Seminoles.
The 2017 season was suppose to be trip to National Championship Game, but it's gone south after an injury to their starting quarterback Deondre Francois during the Alabama game and since then it has been a very tough season, with FSU being 2-4 as of October 23rd. Folks, let's get a grip. It’s not the end of the world if we do not have a winning season for the first time since 1976, Bowden's first season. Yes, we might miss the post-season for the first time since I was born in 1981. Fisher is doing a great job in this tough season in 2017. Some Division 1 football teams would love to have 40 straight winning seasons with trips to the post-season every year. And we should be proud about having a record that's yet to be broken. Yes, it sucks to have a season like Seminoles are having right now, but you just have to relax. It’s only one season and I promise you it will be getting better soon when all the players are injured recover and return in 2018. Folks, the world is not going to end if Seminoles aren't in the post-season this season.

Chris Heidel - The James Madison Dukes Football team is having a great 2017 with them currently being undefeated.
After beating William and Mary last weekend by 32 points, they received 157 of 166 first-place votes (95 percent thisweek to be the #1 ranked team in the country. It’s homecoming weekend for students of James Madison and what a way to host a homecoming game this weekend with a game against a very tough New Hampshire Wildcats. These teams are no stranger playing against each other. They played twice last season, once during the regular season in a conference game in Durham New Hampshire and again last December in the NCAA Football playoffs in Harrisonburg. The Wildcats come to Shenandoah Valley this weekend with a 5-2 record after beating an injury plagued Towson Football team last Saturday afternoon. New Hampshire is starting a two game road trip through the Virginia, starting with a tough game against the top ranking Dukes. Chris Heidel - The Delaware Blue Hens and the Richmond Spiders played another classic game in
this rivalry dated back to 1931, when these both schools played against each other for the first time. Both teams went over 350 yards of total offense on this warm autumn day at Delaware Stadium. Blue Hens running back Jamie Jarmon has over 144 yards of total offense with 3 Td’s whileJ.P. Carusco, the Blue Hens Quarterback, had a tough day, throwing the football only 130 yards passing. Kyle Lauletta, the Spiders Quarterback, threw 295 yards passing with 4 Td’s in the loss to the Blue Hens. Lauletta spoke after the game, saying that he need to work better next week against Stony Brook and not to turn the football over like he did on Saturday afternoon against Blue Hens. Delaware's running game rushed for 288 yards, with Kani Kane rushing for 109 yards and Jarmon for 103 yards in the win. The win over Richmond has given the Blue Hens a 5-2 record and 3-1 in the CAA after 7 games while the Spiders have a two game winning streak over a two games after the loss to Delaware. Chris Heidel - Delaware Football Coach Danny Rocco welcomes an Old friend this
weekend in CAA Football action when the #10 Richmond Spiders pay a visit to Newark. Coach Rocco, who spent 5 seasons coaching the Spiders and took them to playoffs last season, took his coaching experience to city of Newark to help turn around a football team that have not made the FCS playoffs since 2010 when they made it to FCS championship Game which they lost to Eastern Washington. The Blue Hens, who had a tough 2016 season, are having a better 2017 season, just tieing their win total from last season. But the offense did have some issues in the first six games, only scoring more than 24 points in a game once a couple weeks ago on Long Island. Last weekend, the Blue Hens defense shut out William and Mary by a score of 17-0 and Richmond beat Towson last Saturday at Unitas Stadium by the score of 23-3. Both teams are on two game winning streaks coming into the Hens Homecoming Game Saturday afternoon. Chris Heidel - On a warm early fall day here in Bull City of Durham North Carolina the Florida State Seminoles were looking to get back on track. The Noles were quick to act, getting on the board first after a 20 yard TD pass from James Blackman to Auden Tate on the opening drive. After controlling the 1st Quarter, the Seminoles offense got stuck in neutral with oonly ne drive that went over the 50 yard line. The Blue Devils scored their only points of the game with a field goal from Austin Parker at 37 yd after a drive that help control clock somewhat. After the Noles forced the Blue Devils to punt on their opening series of 2nd half an 11 play drive on the Noles first series of the 2nd half ended with a23 yrd FG by Aguayo to give the Noles a 10-3 lead over the Blue Devils with 4 mins left in 3rd Quarter. The Blue Devils QB Daniel Jones found T.J Rahming for a big play of 57 yards to tie the game at 10 with 9 yard TD run by Brittain Brown. Cam Akers got the lead back for the Seminoles with a 42 yard TD run, bringing the score to 17-10 late in the 4th quarter. The Seminoles defense had to knock down one last minute Hail Mary from Blue Devils QB Daniel Jones to get their 2nd win of 2017. Photos By Chris Heidel
Chris Heidel - Jimbo Fisher and Florida State Seminoles are having a very tough 2017
season with tough loses to top rank Alabama on Labor Day weekend and at home lost last weekend to Rival Miami Hurricanes . So this week the Noles hit the road to Durham North Carolina where they have never lost to the Duke Blue Devils. This is a rematch of the 2013 ACC Championship Game where the Noles won their 3rd ACC Football Championship, beating Blue Devils 45-7 at the Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte NC. The Noles are 1-3 on the season and dealing with some major injuries to their starting quarterback Deondre Francois during the first game of the season. James Blackman is a true freshman QB getting the keys to offense that has been problems in the red zone during the first 4 games of the season. Fisher is hoping that his freshman quarterback is ready to turn the corner to keep nation's longest win seasons of 40 straight years going. On the other side of the Football, the Blue Devils started off the 2017 season with 4-0 record with wins over Northwestern and Baylor. They come into this game the loser of 2 games in row after losing to Virginia last weekend in Charlottesville. Daniel Jones has been having issues with the offense the last couple weeks but Coach David Cutcliffe is hoping that he can return to form like last season. Euan McCreath - After beginning their campaign with a loss to South Carolina the N.C. State WoIfpack have rattled off four straight wins heading into last night’s prime time matchup with the Louisville Cardinals. The streak, which included a victory at Florida State provided the now #24 ranked N.C. State Wolfpack with some momentum heading into an ACC clash with Louisville. The Pack have an experienced quarterback in Ryan Finley and he’s played like one. Finley has been money, tossing nine touchdowns and has yet to thrown an interception while being sacked only seven times. Finley leads an offense that averages over 460 yards per game. He has a bona fide pIay maker in JayIen SamueIs. It doesn’t matter if he’s rushing or receiving Samuels is a weapon. He’s accounted for eight touchdowns so far this season and is collectively averaging over six yards per touch. The Wolfpack have really been taking care of the football having only committed two turnovers this season. Defensively N.C. State returns eight senior starters this season and the experience is paying off especially rushing the passer. State is third in the ACC with 13 sacks and are led by the dynamic powerful defensive end Bradley Chubb.
The Cardinals came into their game after a blowout against Kent State and Murray State but more notably getting blown out by Clemson a three weeks ago in a game in which they got dominated and seemed overwhelmed. Louisville has won four out of the last five meetings including last year’s beat down 54-13 at home. Despite being on the road LouisviIIe entered the game as a smaII favorite behind defending Heisman Trophy winning quarterback Lamar Jackson and head coach Bobby Petrino. With both teams having explosive offenses and quarterbacks with big arms it was the defense who held strong in the opening quarter that saw no scoring. In the second quarter N.C. State would get open up the scoring. On a fourth and one from midfield the Wolfpack converted on a Ryan Finley quarterback sneak. On the ensuing play it was Finley hooking up on a 48-yard bomb to Kelvin Harmon that gave the Pack a 7-0 lead with just under 12 minutes to go in the second quarter. Lamar Jackson however would answer and look good doing it. The Cardinals were on the Wolfpack 23-yard line when Jackson went back to pass and threw a beautiful high arching pass down the sideline into the awaiting arms of wide receiver Seth Dawkins who juggled the ball at first and eventually securing it in the end zone for a touchdown, silencing the once frenzied crowd in Raleigh. The silence was short lived however when Finley answered hitting his big play wide receiver Jaylen Samuels who turned a short pass over the middle into a track meet eventually being tackled inside the ten-yard line after a 79-yard gain. The Wolfpack however were unable to capitalize on the big play as the Louisville defense stiffened but did manage a 21-yard field goal that increased the Wolfpack lead to 10-7. Later in the quarter the Cardinals would strike again this time from the ground thanks to a Nyheim Hines 11-yard touchdown run. The Cardinals came back and kicked a field goal sending the teams into the locker room at halftime with the Wolfpack leading 17-10. Hines would strike again after a Louisville field goal this time scampering in from seven yards out pushing the Wolfpack lead to 24-13. The Wolfpack accumulated 473 yards of offense through three quarters in taking their double-digit lead into the fourth quarter. Jackson, resilient and poised would lead the Cardinals down the field and capped a nine play 62-yard drive with a four yard run. The subsequent two-point conversion was no good as the Wolfpack maintained a five-point lead 24-19. Each team then exchanged touchdowns and with just over three minutes to go the Cardinals got the ball on their own 11 trailing 32-25. It was then that the Wolfpack defense would seal the game on a pick six thanks to a tipped ball that was returned by Germaine Pratt 25-yards to pay dirt. The play gave the Pack a 39-25 victory. “He does a nice job rushing the passer and in run defense”, commented Cardinal head coach Bobby Petrino when talking about superstar defensive lineman Bradley Chubb. “He plays with great effort.” That effort was on full display Thursday night as Chubb penetrated the Cardinal backfield quite often. He was a force recording six tackles, two of them for a loss, a sack and even blocked an extra point. The Cardinals defensive line sacked Jackson four times and even when they couldn’t sack him they made him uncomfortable. Jaylen Samuels caught seven passes for 104 yards as well. But the story of the night was how well Ryan Finley played. He completed 20-of-31 passes for 367 yards and a touchdown. When Finley wasn’t throwing it he was handing the ball off to Nyheim Hines who rushed for 102 yards and two touchdowns on just 19 carries. The playmakers did just that for the Wolfpack who will most certainly move way up in the polls after this impressive home victory. Lamar Jackson his counterpart accounted for over 400 yards and three touchdowns in the loss. Next Saturday the now 5-1 Wolfpack head to Pittsburg to take on Pitt while the 4-2 Cardinals look to bounce back as they host Boston College. Chris Heidel - It has been two weeks since the Blackbears were on the field in
Harrisonburg VA when they lost a game to the #1 team in the country in the James Madison Dukes. Last weekend there was suppose to be a game in Central Florida vs Central FL Golden Knights, but it was post-poned because of Hurricane Irma and had to be rescheduled. Coach Joe Harasymiak, in a guest appearance on HerbFM Sports Radio on College Football Tonight last week, said he would use the bye week for recruiting and light practice but mainly they would be getting ready for a good Villianova Wildcats team that will be hard to beat at home. The Wildcats are coming into this game feel very good with themselves but are dealing with injuries after win last Saturday Night at Towson. Zach Bednarczyk, their star quarterback, left the game on the first drive of the game and was sent to get MRI on his ankle. They are hoping it is not a serious injury. On their upcoming matchup vs. Maine he hopes to get physical against this very athletic team, They gang up on the tackle and are good running the ball in addition to a good quarterback who can deliver the football downfield. Rob J. Moore - Villanova jumped to an early lead in the opening moments of the 1st quarter with a 7yd touchdown pass from quarterback Jack Schetelich, who stepped in for Zach Bednarczyk who left the game with a left knee injury. The pass was complete to wide receiver Taurus Phillips for the TD. Villanova continued to dominate the 1st quarter, keeping Towson off the board but not adding to their own score either.
Towson stepped up their game in the 2nd quarter, with quarterback Ryan Stover driving the team downfield and personally running the ball into the endzone for 6. Towson kicker Aidan O’Neill Ray Finkle’d the extra point, leaving the score at 6-7. We can only assume that the laces were in, not out. Towson’s defense would continue to dominate the 2nd quarter with two inteceptions, both courtesy of Towson DB Monty Fenner. At halftime, the Tigers were behind by 1 point, with the scoreboard at 6-7 in favor of Villanova. Towson took the lead briefly in the 3rd quarter after a 27yd field goal from Aidan O’Neill. Towson wasn’t able to hold the lead for very long. They would yield quickly to Villanova, who answered with a 46yd field goal courtesy of Wildcats kicker Drew Kresge. The 4th quarter brought no help to the Tigers as Villanova quarterback Jack Schetelich would tack on two more TDs. Schetelich would run for an 8 yd TD shortly after the start of the quarter and then again at the end for an 11yd TD. Villanova would ultimately win the game 24-9. Towson head coach Rob Ambrose stated after the game that the team needed to manage their injuries more carefully and that he would have to work with the quarterbacks to iron out the kinks. Ambrose also addressed the issues with the kickers, stating that there was work to be done and that accuracy was an issue. Towson heads into their bye week with a 2-3 record overall and a record of 0-2 in the CAA. When they return from the break, they will return to Johnny Unitas Stadium to face the Spiders of Richmond. |
